About Us
The Solent District Benevolent Society was started in the summer of 1987.
The society aims to provide assistance to those members who unfortunately find
themselves in financial difficulties through accident or other unforeseen circumstances.

What is the SUPERDRAW and MEGADRAW?
The SUPERDRAW and MEGADRAW are the fund raising part of the Solent District Benevolent Society.
Every CWU member is entitled to become a shareholder in the Society.
The shareholders share number(s) are entered each month in a draw.
There are eleven monthly SUPERDRAWS offering cash prizes with a top prize currently £100
and on the night of the societies AGM we hold a MEGADRAW with a top prize currently £500

How much will it cost me?
To become a shareholder it will only cost you £1.08 per share per month, or if paid annually, £12 per share per year.

How do I apply for shares and pay for them?
Click on the 'Join' button on the menu to the left of the screen where there are instructions on how to join.
There is no limit to the number of shares you may sign up for
and remember the more shares you have the better your chance of winning.

How do I know what my draw numbers are and what happens when I win?
When your share application has been processed you will be notified by post of your share numbers.
You will be notified by post of any wins you may have and the money is transfered directly into your account.
Draw dates and winners will also be posted in the members area of this site and in 'The Messenger'.
As a member it will be your responsibility to keep your address/contact/bank details up to date.
Changes of address/contact/bank details can be done through the secratary (see 'Contact Us')

Who runs the Society?
Every year the Society at the society's AGM,
a Committee is elected to run the Society on the member’s behalf. A Chairperson, Secretary and Financial Secretary are also elected.
As a shareholder, you are able to attend the AGM. Full Members (see rules) may vote also on any matters put before the members.
Audited accounts are also made available at the AGM.
The AGM is held in February each year.
